As Learning Aids (Bala)Building & BaLA Initiatives The concept was originally developed by the Centre for Architectural Research and Design in collaboration with UNICEF. The programme is an innovative vision towards qualitative improvement in education by creating a conducive learning and entertainment based environment for children in school infrastructure. The BALA programme is a means of planning and utilising school infrastructure as a whole. It incorporates principles such as Activity Based Learning for Children with Special Needs (CWSN), Child Friendliness and Inclusive Education and also recognized that the architecture of the school building can be a resource for teaching-learning process. KVS has decided to adopt this concept called BALA in its Kendriya Vidyalayas.
